Hi there! I didn't die. I just took my time writing a very, very long fic -- the longest I ever wrote -- which you can now read in its entirety at the AO3:

"Anarchy in the UK"

Synopsis: "Good God, Erik thought. The Prince of Wales is gay."

Charles lives in the unceasing glare of the public spotlight, yet keeps his sexual orientation a closely held secret, afraid he could lose his throne and force his deeply troubled younger sister into a role that would crush her. Erik, journalist and world traveler, has been a loner most of his life; he has little patience for closet cases. But a chance meeting in Kenya brings these two opposites together and sets in motion a love affair that will challenge the British monarchy -- and force them both to change forever.

Many thanks due to [profile] rheanna27 for Britpicking above and beyond the call of duty on that one.

In other fannish news, I love "Elementary" with wild desperate love and expect to write it next.

yes, this. THIS. (and not just because every person I discover who loves it desperately makes my own desperate love feel somewhat less pathological.)

I am excited to hear you love Elementary, though I'll be sad to see you stop writing (or writing less) XM. Last year you argued with me about writing Erik and Charles without powers, and even without Erik's traumatic background and...I may have to revise my statement to, I don't like them unless they're written by yahtzee :) Seriously, I managed to keep myself from reading the series until about part 10, and then i just have in and read and reread and the thing I'd forgotten about reading along with a WiP, especially an epically long one is the way it stays with you as a reader and the way you mourn it when it's over, because these specific incarnations of our heroes had become very important to you and...

I love Erik and Charles, but I love the other characters even more, the way they get translated and the roles you had them play, like Armando or Moira. All my love goes to Raven though (and Hank when he finally shows up). Brave and vulnerable and fighting, always fighting her lot in life. No, wait, my absolute favorite moment is the queen and the way Erik manages to analyze her and succeeds in talking to her in the way she understands. That was such a brilliant moment in the story and then you just subtly refer back to it everytime Charles is surprised ho easily she accepts Erik.

Anyway, thank you for an amazing story and thank you for still writing XM!!@!!!

LOL. Yes, you're right. Drunken talking more like it. But you totally changed my mind on 50 Shades, and made me really think about what I needed in an AU, so you must have made a convincing argument :)

I'm so hoping for and dreading the next film! I know fandom can handle anything (cough X3), but it'd be nice to see these young incarnations get another shot at really great canon :)
